Synthetic bag filters with excellent fire-prevention properties
GEA recently developed an international filter innovation: its new FireTex filters, which consist of an especially enhanced polypropylene fleece. The new filters are fire-resistant, do not develop smoke, and do not drip in case of fire. The outstanding fire-prevention properties of these synthetic filters have now been officially confirmed: The German Automotive Inspection Agencies (DEKRA) have classified FireTex filters in Class B, in accordance with DIN EN 13 501-1 2007, the European standard for construction materials. FireTex filters have also been classified as s1 for smoke development and d0 for dripping in case of fire.
With the new FireTex filters, GEA Delbag has satisfied the wishes of numerous customers who needed better fire protection for their HVAC solutions. Conventionally, fire-protection flaps are used to prevent the spread of fire throughout a building through HVAC systems. These flaps, however, offer no protection from fires within the HVAC systems themselves. Synthetic FireTex filters provide the required support here, since GEA’s filter experts have modified the filter material, so that - in case of fire - it melts before it can burn.
FireTex filters by GEA Delbag are highly effective for application in buildings that are frequented by large numbers of people and in which reduction of fire pollution is critically important. Examples of such facilities are airports, hospitals, convention and congress centers, theaters, hotels, catering facilities, as well as applications in industry and commerce.
